I am a freelance web developer/designer, media researcher and photographer currently living in New York.
I am also the Co-Founder of freeFormed of New York, LLC and Director of Web and Mobile Development for freeFormed's flagship project, freeFormed.net. For the last ten years, I have been very interested in exploring and understanding the nuances of human relationships and the patterns in communication and interaction within physical and virtual space that inform and change these relationships. Previously, I explored this fascination through photography and experimental video art. I graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2001 with a BFA in Photography and Imaging and a minor in Anthropology. Though I have primarily worked as a street photographer in 35mm, medium format and digital, I also have extensive experience with on location photography and large format. Within the last few years, this particular interest in capturing relationships in visual space has been united with new found knowledge of technology. I recently graduated with a Masters in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU, where I primarily focused on web and mobile development.
As I move towards a more complete understanding of new forms of technological communication, I find myself particularly interested in social networking, mobile devices, urban interventions and location-based technology. I also have found particular satisfaction in exploring ways to apply technological innovations in socially responsible ways, both to aid in information availability and consumption and to inspire social activism and community building.
In addition to having considerable experience in web development, I also have a background in Marketing Communications and graphic design, as these were the primary fields I worked in prior to my studies at ITP.
